greenthumb

To Greenthumb Lawn Specialists.

You came to do my garden, I thank you very much.
The treatment you bestowed on it has had a Midas touch.
The grass now green, the weeds all gone, it really was a mess.!
The years of wind and rain - neglect - all took their toll I guess.

No Dandelions, Buttercups, or Speedwell now appear,
All gone to weedless heaven now, and won't come back next year.
And yet and yet, I must admit, I'll miss the Clover hues,
The purples, whites, the deep deep red, and brightly coloured blues.

Now all are gone, I mow the lawn with some elated pride.
Yes, so much so, I may even buy a mower on which to ride.!
Well you know the saying, it goes like this, ' if you have it why not flaunt it'?
That goes right now for the beautiful lawn I mow each week undaunted.

So thank you for the wonder you've created in my garden,
It needs no moisturising creams from Lauder or Liz Arden.
It holds it's luscious green head high, embraces every day.
And one and all admire it as they pass along this way.

'Greenthumb is the bestest best' I'll tell just everyone.
'If you want green and weedless grass on which to play, have fun.
Just phone this number, and very soon you'll think you live in Heaven.
Phone number 0162 8 52 52 27.!!

Mine is now a ' Green and Pleasant Place.'

Today, Nostalgia

I wish I lived in Rothesay now, to walk along the shore
To get some inspiration for a poem or maybe more.
I'd walk both ways . to Bannatyne and back... Then Craigmore Pier,
I used to do it every week, before I came down here.

The air is not so Scottish fresh, it has a cold damp breeze.
Sometimes it suffocates me, almost brings me to my knees.
Although we have a river here, It's murky every day.
And often I would give my all to cycle by Rothesay bay.

I don't suppose I should complain, this town is nice enough.
The people are friendly and polite, but lack the Scottish stuff
The Scots are made of,.. and I miss the food we had at home-
Scotch broth, and clootie dumplings, and high tea with home made scones.

How I would love to visit the Victoria Hotel.
On every second Tuesday, ( Friday, saturday as well!)
And sit until the gate goes up, until the barmen say.
@ I want everybody out right now, but the Writers Group can stay.'

This isn't very humorous, in fact it's almost sad.
When I looked into my fun recess, I found this was all I had,
I don't admit this often, but in honesty I say.
I still miss my friends, and I miss the sight of dear old Rothesay Bay.

coincidental . latin. matin

We recently had discussions
on what Latin meant to me.
so I was quite excited
when I read this clip from Saturday..

This article says High Masses
Will be held by O'Donoghue
His Christian name is Patrick -
The Rt. Rev. to me and you.

Latin mass is the one sure
To bring good Catholics back.
Without the fear and trembling -
Of being stretched upon the rack.

The rebel priests are fighting
But fighting for a very good cause.
If we had Christmas in Latin
It would be like a present from Santa Claus.

Don't you believe in Santa C. ?
I won't change your point of view.
But if Latin Matin returns I know,
We will all be fighting for a pew.

This article states new music/words,
Leaves much to be desired.
It says just what I said to you,
So my enthusiasm is fired.!

Perhaps times are a changing,
But our religion won't be harmed,
It will mean we have to re-learn Latin..
That's no cause to be alarmed.!

Latin is the language,
God spoke to his apostles,
He said " please sing it loud and clear,
And do not sing through your nostrils."

Our Latin is a living tongue,
It most certainly is not dead.
It is spoken and written by Doctors and such
And it is very widely read..

I won't go on ad nauseam..
Read this article at your leisure.
Then won't you admit, when you finish it..
You felt enormous pleasure.?

I know God won't be angry,
Nor will he strike me dead..
He knows these last few verses
Were written by me in bed..!
